Analysis of designed the pile foundation of a sea traffic control tower requested by an engineering firm. From the initial design stages, the pile groups were found to be under eccentric load conditions. Due to the complex shape of structure and foundation in addition some geotechnical limitations, the level of eccentricity was significant
Different types of pile groups were modelled with all necessary components such as piles, caps, and reinforcement. Also, different soil layers were simulated to assure the accuracy of the results of analysis when the pile group is subjected to lateral loads with large eccentricities
Major adjustments were proposed to the design team to ensure targeted safety factors
