Collision Impact Analysis of Safety Guardrails

This project was defined by a lead road safety enterprise requesting finite element stress analysis of a new design concept for safety guardrails
The design went through an extensive parametric study via FE analysis, and structural assessment of the elements was performed as per the existing regional standard specifications for highway safety. The impact loading was applied on the guardrail assembly within the FE model of the entire system, including the beams, posts, bolted supports, and the multi-layer soil
The analysis resulted in the maximum velocities that the guardrail could resist in different configurations for the system and the vehicle according to the standards
